Erasmus Quellin II ...was born (November 19, 1607, Belgium) into a family of artists - mainly sculptors. Nonetheless, he chose painting as his métier, and was fortunate to have been one of Peter Paul Rubens' many pupils. His works reflect popular themes of the day, specifically the Counter Reformation and scenes from mythology.
